About Me

Hi, I’m Sam, the founder of Native Hound Nutrition.

I’ve grown up around dogs all my life, so when I eventually moved out of the family home, it felt strangely empty without a dog around. After about a year, my husband and I decided it was time to get our first puppy together and, naturally, I wanted to make sure I was doing everything I could to give him the best start in life.

Before he even came home, I started researching what I should feed him. The more I learnt about canine nutrition, the more fascinated I became by just how much of an impact nutrition can have on a dog’s health and wellbeing. What started as research for my own puppy quickly became something I genuinely wanted to learn more about.

I decided to start with a Level 2 qualification as a way of getting a feel for the subject and seeing whether it was something I really enjoyed. I loved it, and that led me to complete my iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Canine Nutrition, further developing my knowledge and understanding of canine nutrition.

I’m currently continuing my education through an APNC Mentorship Programme, allowing me to build on what I already know and keep developing my knowledge within this ever-evolving field.

My Approach

I believe that every dog is an individual. There is no single diet that is perfect for every dog, and nutrition should take into account their age, lifestyle, health, preferences and individual needs.

My goal is to help owners feel more confident about what they are feeding their dogs, while creating practical, personalised nutritional plans that are both nutritionally appropriate and enjoyable for the dog.

Most importantly, I genuinely want to help dogs. Whether you're looking for guidance with a fussy eater, wanting to explore a home-prepared diet, or simply looking to improve your dog's nutrition, I want to make the process feel straightforward, supportive and tailored to you and your dog.

Because good nutrition isn't just about what's in the bowl, it's about helping your dog live a happy, healthy life.
